My city girls, back to the country!

My city girls back to the country

I am sharing this story from my daughter Kelli Bevis about her kids...

A couple of these stories most of y'all have already heard, but I have to write them down so that I can keep them forever.

Special Sauce & Crabs

A while back, Dixie told me that she wanted a salad. I told her that I would go to the store that evening to buy the stuff to make one. She said, "No momma. I don't want you to make one. I want to go to that place where it has the special sauce, and the black things in it." I said, "Oh! You mean Olive Garden?" Dixie said, "Yes! I want Olive Garden!" I sadly informed her that we would have to wait until we could go to Texarkana because they do not have one here. A few days later Texana comes up to me, and asks, " Momma when we run out of food can we go to Crabs (this is what she calls Red Lobster)?" I once again had to inform her the same thing that I had to tell Dixie, that the closest one was an hour away.

Texana's Wall Art Observation

A few weeks after those questions were asked, we went over to see Pa and Gammy. Texana had been in their house a lot, but I guess for some reason she just noticed. As she looked up at the walls, she had a weird look on her face, and she asked me in my ear, " Momma, why do they have dead animals on the wall?" I seriously could not stop laughing.

Like Fallin' off a Horse

Last week we were outside, and Dixie was hanging in the tree. She had fallen out, and just to be on the safe side we went to the emergency room. I was so scared that they were going to say that I was a bad mom for letting her climb the tree. I guess I have some city that rubbed off on me too, but when we got there they weren't upset with me. Dixie told the nurse, " I'm never climbing a tree again!" The nurse said, " No! You have to climb a tree again. It's just like falling off a horse, and getting back up there." Which I definitely understand, since I've done that a few times as a kid. As soon as we got home Dixie was back up in that tree like nothing had happened.

Wouldn't Want to Live there

So today as I was sitting on the computer with Texana, we saw a beautiful picture. It was a curvy road, and all around it was beautiful green hills. When you look at the picture, you wish you were there just walking around seeing the beauty. Texana looks at me with a serious expression, and says, " I wouldn't want to live there!" In shock, I ask, " Why? It's so beautiful!" Her response was, " There isn't any stores. Where would we go?"

I love my little city girls!

Who would have thought that I would have city girls? Don't get me wrong, they love the outside. They love to play in the mud and go to grandpa's barn. It seems like what I was born in, my children are having to learn at an older age. At least two of my children. Dixie went hunting with her Uncle Christopher once since we have been back, and she was so excited telling me all about it. It is pretty amazing getting to show them where we grew up, and how different it is.
